Good to know - Make the most of your holiday in Blackpool
Plan Head
Plan ahead, it’s always a good idea to book your holiday well in advance as we often sell out of rooms, also plan what you want to do ahead of time and organise your day, some attractions allow you to book time slots and secure your attraction tickets online before you go, ticket prices are generally lower than if you pay at the gate. This season, the best value of all is the Pic’N’Mix ticket for Merlin attractions, which allows you to visit 8 top attractions all on one ticket, you can opt for a one, two or seven-day pass.
The Beach
The Beach is a special place to unwind but don’t forget Blackpool is a tidal resort, which means the tide comes all the way to the promenade steps, preventing beach access at certain times. Making yourself aware of the tide times is not only beneficial for your safety but it also enables you to check when you can take advantage of times when there is more beach space available. Tide times can be found on the Visit Blackpool website.
Tourism Office
Stop by the Tourist Information Centre, located at Festival House on the Promenade, a two-minute stroll from Blackpool Tower. The friendly assistants offer their expert knowledge on all the attractions, places to eat, events and travel information. You can even purchase discounted tickets for some attractions and shows plus there is plenty of Blackpool merchandise on sale to remind you of your Blackpool memories.
Getting Around Blackpool
Getting around Blackpool is easy as a lot of the attractions are close together, so you can explore on foot but if you want to use public transport, there is a tram and bus stop across the road from the hotel. You can buy your tickets on the bus/tram, cash/contactless or download the Blackpool Transport App and buy them on there. The app also allows you to track vehicles in real time and lets you know about service updates. Alternatively, you can buy tickets from local shops displaying the Pay Point sign.
Taxis are well regulated, reasonably priced and safe to use and there is now an Uber service in Blackpool. Don’t forget about the horse and carriages that ride up and down the promenade.
Blackpool’s main train station is Blackpool North and is well connected to the National Rail Network. If you don’t really need a car whilst you are here, it’s better to come by train or coach.
The Weather
If you are visiting Blackpool in the summer, hopefully there will be plenty of warm sunny days and the temperature can soar, so make sure you have lots of sun protection. Also, bring waterproof clothing in case it rains and a couple of extra layers to keep you warm if the temperatures drop. You may also need waterproof clothing for the Pleasure Beach, as on some of the rides, you can get quite wet!
Car Parks
The road at the back of the hotel and the surrounding Foxhall Village offer free and unrestricted parking and there are several paid car parks in the area. Whilst some car parks still operate with pound coins, most operate a pay-by-phone system, which enables you to download an app and make a payment from there. You can also extend your length of stay remotely.
Don’t just pack your days with activities; allow yourself some time to relax, even just sitting on the promenade, watching the sun go down on the horizon, and make special memories.
